A/L or Equivalent?

As students, they all have a dream about their careers. Students in a third-world country suffer a lot to pursue their dream careers. The educational sector in a country plays a huge role in economic growth and the betterment of the nation. According to the greatest Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world." Education can help you to become a responsible citizen of the nation, and it is the basic foundation that can direct the country on a path.

Education has two types: formal and informal education Formal education refers to teaching that happens in schools following an official curriculum. Informal education refers to the learning students often do unconsciously through the hidden curriculum of educational institutions. In today’s modern world, students have ample opportunities to enhance their skills, knowledge, and attitudes through various platforms. Sri Lanka's long history of educational evolution dating back two millennia shows that the free education system has elevated this nation's literacy rate and gender equality in education to a valuable position in South Asia.

According to the United Nations, education is a basic right for a child. Students should have access to education and the aims of education, but unfortunately, the education system in Sri Lanka is heading down an uncertain path due to political and economic factors. As a result of economic and political factors in the country, educational system processes and functions are delayed, and the examination process is consuming a lot of time to arrange the exams and release the results. Countries governing bodies are wasting the valuable time of the younger generation.

The majority of the Sri Lankan student community and education system still stick with outdated curricula. Students have ample options and various opportunities to obtain educational qualifications without consuming time; unfortunately, our student community sticks to traditional educational methods. With the current situation, it is better to utilize alternative options to obtain secondary education. In Sri Lanka, students can complete their secondary education with a recognized foundation or CPU (Canadian Pre-University) program to get an effective time advantage. Without spending 30 months on a local secondary qualification, students can complete a globally recognized qualification in just 10 months. Another major disadvantage is an outdated curriculum.

Sri Lanka's secondary curriculum is still not adapted to modern technological advancement, while third-world countries such as Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh are teaching potential modern technological curriculum in their secondary education, while we are learning about worthless, outdated subjects that will negatively impact our ability to compete with global competitors. Education is our right and responsibility to build ourselves; hence, we choose the correct path to a better destination. Your destiny depends on your education.
